Success Stories

Part Name: BACKSTOP

Application: High Pressure Solenoid Valve,
Fluid Power
Material: 12L14 CD Steel
Critical Dimension: Diameter tolerance +/-.001", Interior 60 degree surface with perpendicularity tolerance of +/-.002". Plating - .0002"-.0004" Electro deposited Nickel over copper flash, dull finish required to reduce chance of flaking. Burr free and no tool marks.
Quantity: 50,000 pcs.

CSI's value added: CSI's customer initially made the part in Switzerland, but had long lead times. Subsequently, the part was made in the USA, but the customer again had issues, this time with plating. The flash plating was very bright, leading to frequent scratching and then flaking during contact with a mating part. CSI successfully manufactured part after several rounds of samples which experimented with different machining and plating techniques.
